The challenge: uniting teams remotely and seeing beyond job functions

The document describes teams spread across Tunisia, Libya, Algeria, Senegal, Cameroon, and Burkina Faso. Mourad Sellami had to unite country managers and sales/marketing functions, identify future leaders, and maintain shared momentum despite the distance.

Three goals behind the game

01

Energy

Break the routine, create friendly competition, and observe reactions.

02

Business acumen

Make people feel the pressure of leadership, numbers, strategy, and crises.

03

Talent discovery

Spot natural leaders, unifiers, resilient people, innovators, and top performers.

What this environment reveals

Leadership under pressureReaction to failure, ability to rally the team, calculated risk-taking.
Strategic intelligenceShort/long-term vision, innovation, understanding of business stakes.
CollaborationInformation sharing, mutual support, and the ability to bring people together.
ResilienceThe ability to learn from mistakes and bounce back.
“I discovered that my marketing director in Cameroon was an exceptional strategist. He was too discreet day-to-day, but the game revealed his potential as a regional leader.”

Managerial closeness as part of the design

The case emphasizes the leader’s direct involvement, personalized feedback, exchanges over Facebook/Messenger during the five days of play, and the use of humor to temporarily lower hierarchical barriers.

Why this case matters strategically for BIZ Experience

It shows three converging uses: developing managerial skills, strengthening cohesion, and creating situations for spotting talent. The game doesn’t automatically “diagnose” a person, but it can surface behaviors that rarely show up in day-to-day work.

A note of caution on the figures: the source document contains several impact percentages and an ROI figure. In the absence of a measurement protocol or independent validation, they are not presented here as proven results.
